One-of-a-Kind International Litigation Boutique – LIFESTYLE (1,800 hrs.)

One-of-a-Kind International Litigation Boutique – LIFESTYLE (1,800 hrs.)

Garrison has been engaged by a prestigious international litigation boutique, to assist their practice in adding mid-level associate. Candidates may sit in D.C. or NYC.

The Firm: Our client handles a wide spectrum of sophisticated matters including cross border disputes, sovereign immunity, asset tracing, commercial litigation, white collar crime, social justice issues, and representing foreign nationals. The NYC office predominately focuses on criminal work and the D.C. office mainly focuses on international litigation, however, regardless of where you sit, you will work alongside both offices. The firm is known for its supportive and collaborative environment. They value employees at all levels of the firm, and they have a true family-like atmosphere. The senior partners have been practicing together for 30+ years.

Hours: This firm has an 1800 billable hours requirement, and associates are billing just that. You will have a life outside of your work and often leave work with time to participate in other activities.

Practice Differentiators:

  • Incredible International Flare: This work is one-of-a-kind. No one in DC or NY has this combination of international litigation and criminal investigations, including representing notable and newsworthy clients, such as journalists, publishers, and high-ranking military officers. The majority of their cases involve interests in the United States, the United Kingdom, Continental Europe, the Caribbean, South and Central America, the Middle East, and Asia.
  • Individual Representation: Roughly 70% of the work they handle is on behalf of individuals and high net worth shareholders. Some of the work may involve representing a criminal defendant one-on-one.
  • Extensive Responsibility: You will have the opportunity to work on a lot of newsworthy cases that aren’t being handled by big law and unlike many large firm practices, you often will take full ownership of cases. They work at the highest level, to include briefing for the Supreme Court.
  • Social Justice: The firm is committed to taking a considerable amount of low-bono and pro-bono work, on subjects such as government overreach and the “Me Too” movement. Your social justice work counts towards your overall billable requirement. Pro bono matters referred by an organization to the firm treated as a part of your normal workload.
  • Career Advancement: This hire is being made with the intention of future advancement to partnership. The firm invests in their people right away and they offer a lot of opportunity for leadership and business generation. Making partner is attainable and they have a proven promotion track record.

Qualifications: 3+ years of litigation experience acquired at a large law firm or prestigious boutique. Candidates must have outstanding academic credentials (judicial clerkship a plus) and significant brief writing experience is required. This firm is looking for friendly, outgoing personalities who come across as modest as they do intelligent. Arabic, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish language skills are highly valued, and you will likely have an opportunity to utilize them.

**Associate positions at litigation boutiques (with these hours and mix of work) are very rare and this firm infrequently hires.
