Exclusive Litigation Opportunity – Newly Formed & Growing Elite Practice Offering Boutique Feel
Garrison has been exclusively engaged by the commercial litigation practice of a prestigious and top-ranked AmLaw firm – and, more specifically, the Managing Partner of the DC office. The practice was formed a short time ago and they are eager to add a mid-level associate who would immediately assume significant responsibility on some of the firm’s most important matters. Many associates gladly followed this practice from another elite firm which speaks to the practice’s overall appeal.
Practice Details: Your practice will include a healthy mix of litigation matters such as antitrust litigation, breach of contract disputes, consumer protection disputes, public nuisance cases, and a small portion of appellate matters.
Practice Differentiators:
- Environment/Culture: The Managing Partner of the DC office describes this tight-knit practice as a litigation boutique inside a national law firm. The group really knows one another and often spends very valuable time together, including having dinner as a group at one of the partners homes, picnics, baby showers and more. They take pride in their intimate culture and work closely together every day. The leader of the group, who you will work with closely, is absolutely fantastic – extremely personable, kind and brilliant. While she is an award-winning trial attorney and takes her work seriously, she is very laid back, owning a quiet confidence.
- Significant Responsibility: You will have significant and comprehensive responsibility on your matters and will not be “one of 20” on a case. This group staffs their matters leanly and intimately to allow for associates to take on a major role. Often you will work on a case from start to finish (drafting motions, taking and defending depositions, etc.).
- Business Development: The group believes in involving associates with business development, even at a junior stage in their careers. That means consistently receiving invitations to go on client visits. Recently, they even allowed three associates to do a client pitch solo! You will learn entrepreneurial skills that are a key to becoming a rain making partner at any firm.
- Advancement Potential: Despite the fact that this firm is a highly ranked AmLaw firm, this is a long-term position, and the group is looking for someone to stay and help grow the practice. The firm has a Counsel and multiple Partner tiers, and the partners in this group specifically are committed to the advancement of their associates and making sure they are recognized for their contributions.
- Mentorship: These partners are very invested in your training, development, and advancement. They are very hands-on, accessible, and strive to provide each associate with an individualized experience. You will have unmatched partner mentorship.
- Reasonable Hours: The firm does not have a billable hour requirement; however, the hours are reasonable (for a top-level litigation practice) and average around 2000-2100, with occasional weekend work. You do NOT need to bill any more hours to advance at the firm.
Candidates must have 3+ years of litigation experience at a top AmLaw firm or prestigious boutique.
***This is one of the most desirable litigation opportunities in Washington, DC and no other current opportunities compare.
