Unpublished and Exclusive Opportunity – Premier DC Firm’s Environmental Practice Seeks Senior Associate
Garrison has been exclusively engaged to assist one of Washington, D.C.’s preeminent firms in their search for a senior environmental associate.
Reason for Need: The environmental practice is exceptionally busy, and the work has increased 25% year-over-year. The group has an associate going on temporary leave and they need a senior associate to step in and serve a deputy role on cases with significant responsibility.
The Work: This is a full-service, self-sustaining environmental practice. The group generates their own work and often cross-sells to other core practices at the firm. You will handle a healthy mix of litigation/investigations, regulatory counseling/compliance, and transactional matters. This premier practice is representing Fortune 500 companies on some of the most cutting-edge, newsworthy, government-facing environmental matters. You will have exposure to all the major environmental acts (e.g., Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, FIFRA, TSCA, and more).
Selling Points:
- Significant Responsibility: You will immediately take the lead on managing your matters and will be acting as the primary client contact.
- Culture: The atmosphere is collaborative, friendly and down-to earth. The firm itself is known for having very engaging people with interests outside the practice of law. This group in particular is very family friendly and many associates and partners have children.
- Opportunity for Advancement: This firm has a strong track record of advancing associates. The firm has a non-equity partner tier, so making partner is much more realistic than peer firms and this hire is being made with the intention of grooming this person for partnership.
- Hours and Compensation: This firm pays top of the market (base/bonus) and averages 2,000 billable hours (with credited hours for DEI and pro bono). The partners in this group give careful consideration to keeping associate workloads at a manageable level so, although the group is busy, this average is actually what is billed in this group and not just the on-paper firm requirement.
Requirements: You must have at least six years of environmental law experience and currently be working at the senior associate level or equivalent. You must have gained this experience at either EPA, DOJ, an AmLaw 200 firm or a highly regarded environmental boutique.
***Amazing opportunity for an environmental lawyer who wants to be part of top firm with a growing practice, working on newsworthy matters and being part of a fabulous firm culture.
