Fortune 500 Seeks Director of Intellectual Property Law (Hybrid)

My client seeks a dynamic Director of Intellectual Property Law to drive forward-looking strategies, protect intellectual property rights, and provide legal guidance across the organization. From ideation to delivery, you’ll play a key role in establishing intellectual property frameworks, managing a robust portfolio, and enabling scalable, monetizable solutions to solve their clients’ most pressing challenges.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of attorneys and professionals to manage the Company’s IP portfolio, including patents, trade secrets, copyrights, trademarks, and licensing on behalf of a diverse base of public-sector clients stretching across a wide swath of industries, in the U.S. and internationally.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to mitigate risk, enhance IP monetization, and drive enterprise-wide innovation strategies.
- Oversee IP guidance for investments, partnerships, and acquisitions.
- Support the Office of the Chief Technology Officer and other stakeholders in building scalable frameworks to accelerate innovation.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- 10+ years of patent law experience (prosecution side preferred) in a law firm, corporate, or government setting.
- Engineering background in electrical, mechanical, or computer science.
- Expertise managing IP portfolios (i.e., patents, trademarks, licensing, and litigation), crafting systematic IP monetization strategies, and structuring and negotiating IP transactions.
- Experience managing teams of attorneys, paralegals, and other professionals.
- Ability to listen actively and translate technical advice into succinct, clear, and direct business solutions
- Experience counseling government contractor/defense industry clients is preferred.
