Garrison has been engaged by a cross-border litigation and asset tracing boutique to assist their practice in adding a mid-to-senior level associate to their NEW DC office.
The Firm: My client handles a wide spectrum of sophisticated matters, including territorial disputes, foreign sovereign immunity, cross-border fiduciary duty and fraud claims, Section 1782 discovery issues, asset tracing, bankruptcy and insolvency, and human rights initiatives. The firm is known for its supportive and collaborative environment among employees at all levels.
Practice Differentiators:
- Incredible International Flair: This work is one-of-a-kind. The firm’s clients are almost exclusively international, and their cases involve interests all across the globe (e.g., United Kingdom, South Africa, Continental Europe, the Caribbean, South and Central America, and more), and they are always representing the “good guys”.
- Extensive Responsibility: This partner is looking for their “lieutenant” to run point and take full ownership on many cases. You will be encouraged to take on significant responsibility (draft briefs, oral arguments, take depositions) – court time is the norm here, rather than the exception. They work at the highest level, including 9th Circuit appellate briefs and briefing for the Supreme Court.
- Career Advancement: This hire is being made with the intention of future advancement to partnership. The firm invests in their people right away and they offer a lot of opportunity for leadership and business generation. Making partner is attainable and they have a proven promotion track record.
Compensation: The salary range is $225k – $265k and the firm offers a modest bonus depending upon experience level.
Qualifications: 4+ years of true litigation (not investigations) experience acquired at a large law firm, prestigious boutique, or DOJ Civil Division. Candidates must have outstanding academic credentials (judicial clerkship a plus), and significant brief writing experience is required. Deposition and oral argument experience are highly valued. This firm is looking for friendly, outgoing personalities who come across as modest as they are intelligent. Language skills (Portuguese, French, or Spanish) are highly valued, and you will likely have an opportunity to utilize them.
**True international litigation associate positions (as opposed to arbitration) are very rare, and this is a great opportunity to join on the ground floor of this growing boutique.
