Rare 100% Gov Con Transactional and Regulatory Law Firm Position – Long-Term and Part Time Opportunities

Garrison & Sisson has been engaged to assist a nationally ranked premier AmLaw firm, in its efforts to build out its government contracts practice. This is a rare opportunity for a senior associate or counsel to be the “go to” senior lawyer for the transactional and regulatory side of its government contracts practice.  This position will uniquely split its time between the National Security and the Energy practice group. The group is nationwide, so this position can sit in nearly any of their U.S. offices.

After speaking with two key partners, we believe this job is compelling for the following reasons:

  1. Prestige of Practice and Clients: This firm is a leader in the tech space, and they are known for representing emerging and innovative companies. On the energy side of the practice, they are focused on clean energy and climate change (advancing strategic alliances, developing groundbreaking technologies, renewable energy development and financing, and so much more). You will have an opportunity to work amongst some of the best lawyers in the industry, as many of the partners are nationally ranked in their practices.

  1. Flexible Hours and Stability: The associates in this group are averaging not much more than the minimum requirement to make a year-end bonus. Additionally, this firm welcomes part-time attorneys, and you can work at 75% if you desire. This is a great opportunity for an in-house or government attorney who wishes to enter or return to private practice, without the typical law firm hours. This is not an “up or out” position and the firm has made it clear that this is an important long-term hire.

  1. Marketability: Due to the recent passing of the CHIPS and Science Act and the Inflation Reduction Act, there is an influx of government contract opportunities for the firm’s innovative clients. You will become specialized and unlike many law firm government contracts positions, you will focus on the transactional and regulatory side of government contracts (procurement contracts of all types, cooperative agreements, cooperative research and development agreements, technology investment agreements, grants, loans and loan guarantees, M&A and financing).

  1. Culture: The attorneys at this firm all share a mission-oriented vision. Specifically, the key partners you will work with are very kind, charismatic, and team oriented. They value training and mentorship. This firm is a fun place to work and has an entrepreneurial and informal environment.

Desired Background: Minimum of 5 years of solid government contracts transactional experience and regulatory compliance with the FAR/DFARS. Ideal candidates will also have experience with DEAR (Department of Energy Acquisition Regulation) and NNSA (National Nuclear Security Administration) regulations.

Enjoy significant autonomy in this highly visible role firm interfacing with key clients and across many practice groups. If you enjoy the transactional side of government contracts, this is an opportunity to take your specialized skills, to an elite firm, and immediately assume a key role in this successful practice. In-house, government, and law firm attorneys are encouraged to apply.
