Key responsibilities include: Draft, review and negotiate complex business contracts (including software technology licenses and data-enabled services); support RFP preparation and negotiation; navigate procurement process involving public colleges and universities; stay informed about regulatory developments in higher education and work closely with outside counsel to ensure regulatory compliance (e.g., privacy and information security); support the company on other legal matters (e.g., employment, IP, M&A, and privacy).

Qualified candidates should have 4+ years of transactional experience in either a law firm or corporate legal department setting. Strong negotiating and relationship-building skills and excellent interpersonal, influencing and communication skills are required. The ideal candidate would have familiarity with FERPA, CCPA, GDPR, and other regulatory statutes applicable to higher education institutions and data privacy.

Our client has been ranked by The Washington Post in 2021 as a Top Work Place and well as one of the 100 Best Companies by Working Mother. Hours are predictable with a hybrid in-office/WFH schedule. Rare in-house opportunity in DC with an industry leader in ed-tech.
