Exclusive and Unpublished Exec Comp/Employee Benefits Opportunity at Premier Corporate Practice

Garrison & Sisson has been exclusively engaged to assist our close client, a prestigious AmLaw 50 firm, in its efforts to build out its executive compensation and employee benefits group. The main partners in this group are located in Washington, D.C., however, this position can sit in nearly any of their US offices.  The practice is focused on public company executive compensation counseling, disclosures, and transactions (e.g., mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, financing, and so much more).

After speaking with two key partners, including the Co-Chair of the group, we believe this job is compelling for the following reasons:

  • Opportunity for Advancement: After losing a superstar counsel to a fantastic in-house opportunity, this firm needs to fill a key position. The firm is looking to bring on an associate or counsel that will serve as its next generation of leadership in the group. You will have no other competition for advancement, as there is no one else at your class level. This firm has a two-tier partnership and is known for their excellent track record of promoting laterals.
  • Prestigious Practice: This firm enjoys what is arguably the biggest corporate practice in Washington, D.C. You will have the opportunity to work with them, as well as the entire nationwide corporate group. Their client base consists of all household names in a variety of industries (healthcare, aerospace/defense, manufacturing, hi-tech, life sciences, etc.) and the mix of work in this group will span across all these industry sectors.
  • Culture: The partners have an open-door policy, and you will have a lot of facetime with them, as you will be working with them one-on-one. The partners are extremely genuine, have a great sense of humor, and value collaboration. We thoroughly enjoyed speaking with them, and we believe you will as well.
  • Reasonable Hours: The associates in this group are averaging not much more than the minimum requirement to make a year-end bonus. You will have a lot of responsibility and client interaction.

Requirements: Associate or Counsel with 5+ years of public company executive compensation experience at an AmLaw 100 firm. Candidates must have experience with corporate transactions such as, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and financings. Knowledge and experience with 280G, 409A, CD&A’s and other compensation related proxy proposals is required.
