Recruiting

Cybersecurity & Privacy Associate for Top Practice (DC and New York)

The Privacy & Cybersecurity practice of this AMLaw 50 firm is high-caliber, global and boasts numerous rankings and accolades. Here you will have a mixed practice that includes: (1) “bet the company” data breaches and ransomware attacks – those that are headlining news or otherwise significant in terms of their severity, scale or impact; and (2) regular and consistent privacy counseling and compliance work for start-ups, Fortune 100 companies and global brands across a variety of sectors (e.g., healthcare, financial services, retail, etc.).

If you have 2-6 years of relevant post-JD experience (at a peer firm or a combination of firm and in-house) – and are looking for a long-term home where mentorship is valued and there is a track record of giving laterals the keys to success – then this might be the practice for you.

Having met with one of the partners leading this search, several more unique insights follow below:

· Working Partnership – This is a working partnership, so the partners will be in the trenches, working with and alongside the team.

· Workload/Scheduling – As is expected with data breach work, the first 24-48 hours are busy, although thereafter the work settles into a more even flow. With that said, the partners make an extra effort to respect vacation time and ensure no one feels they are on call all the time.

· “Fit” is Paramount – This group really gels, so “fit” is a key consideration when hiring.

The ideal candidate will have prior privacy experience and at least some experience in incident response and cybersecurity crises (e.g., for a 2nd Year, will have worked on at least one data breach and want to do more; but deeper experience required as seniority increases).

Must have strong grades from a top law school. Top of the market compensation. 2,000 billable hours requirement (with up to 150 hours of credited pro bono and DEI efforts).
