Booming Real Estate Market: New Attorney Positions with Two of the DC Area’s Largest Real Estate Developers
G&S has been engaged on an exclusive basis to assist two real estate development companies in the DMV with their searches for Associate General Counsel’s to join their thriving organizations. Candidates should have 4-12 years of broad real estate experience in acquisition/sales, development, financing, leasing (office and/or retail), management agreements, construction contracts, Master POAs, REAs, and title and survey work.
One client is a publicly traded, multi-faceted real estate development and services organization with interests in asset management mixed-use & transit-oriented development, hotel development, environmental remediation, and capital advisory services. With 30+ years of stability and growth in this region, they are one of the largest local real estate developers. You will work alongside the Development, Construction and Acquisition teams concerning legal issues in connection with the development of large scale mixed-use real estate projects. Title is SVP, Legal & Associate General Counsel, and you will report directly to the General Counsel (who has been there for 20+ years and is highly respected by the C-Suite).
Our other client, a privately-owned real estate developer, was founded in 1965 and is also one of the largest developers in the DMV. They provide services in all facets of the development process, including design and construction, project management, land planning and zoning, legal, accounting, property management, leasing, and project finance. You will work with both the Retail and Corporate legal departments and provide advice on acquisitions, development, financing, sales, leasing, and management of the company’s office, retail, industrial, residential, and mixed-use portfolios. The ideal candidate would have some retail leasing experience in mixed-use centers. You will report directly to the General Counsel and the General Counsel, Retail, and the 4 attorneys in the OGC have a combined average of 18 years with the company. Maintaining an outstanding corporate culture was critical to the company’s founder (many employees work for the company the better part of their careers), and they invest in their people like no other organization we’ve seen.
Both companies provide reasonable hours (9am-6:30pm) and weekend work is extremely rare, as well as market competitive, in-house compensation.
